At Studio Blai, we transform single-use plastic waste into durable, beautiful materials with a second life. Our mission is to become a fully circular design studio, ensuring that everything we create—from furniture to decor—originates from recycled materials and remains within a conscious, closed-loop cycle.
We tackle the challenge of hard-to-recycle plastics, integrating them into innovative designs and proving their potential as a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing resource.Founded by three architects with expertise in digital fabrication and computational design, Studio Blai was born out of a shared passion for sustainability and innovation.
Our journey began in Barcelona, where we lived and studied together on Carrer de Blai during our time at IaaC. Returning to Turkey in 2020, we launched Studio Blai after winning a competition that brought our vision of recycling local plastic waste into design to life. Since then, we’ve developed three unique machines to process waste plastic into versatile panels, enabling us to blend craftsmanship with sustainability.
Based in Istanbul, our reach extends to Europe and the Middle East. Beyond our work in the studio, we are dedicated educators, sharing our knowledge in design, robotics, and computational methodologies through university lectures. As a born-circular firm, we meticulously consider every aspect of our production process, from cutoffs to carbon emissions, distinguishing us as pioneers in sustainable design.
Our ultimate goal is to lead the way in creating a fully circular economy, showcasing the incredible potential of recycled materials while redefining what sustainable design can achieve.
